After the lecture, there was time to network with members and catch up on news, while having dinner. The group would like to express their sincere thanks to Niamh also the staff at The Firgrove Hotel, Michelstown who provided a delicious dinner. A great night was had by all. Jump Cross Training

Wednesday 24th July 2013
The Southern Connemara Pony Group held a most successful three week training sessions in Jump Cross Training at Boulta Training Gallops near Ballynoe near Conna in north Cork, on Wednesday 10th, 17th and 24th July.

The weather was extremely kind as there was brilliant sunshine and a great number of horses and ponies came for training in the 80cm 90cm and 1metre classes. Training began at 6.30pm each evening. The first round was a practice round while the second round was marked and timed. This proved very useful as both horse and rider were much improved on taking their second round, all this for an entry of €20.

On week three 24th July we held a mini final. The course was upgraded and nicely decorated for this event which added to the overall picture. Some nice equestrian items as well as prize money was awarded to the successful competitors on the final night.

We also held a Dog Show which was ably judged by Bill Twomey, assisted by his daughter Cathy and her cousin Rosheen McCarthy and Kerry Brown. Thank you for your help and support.

To round off a great night a delicious barbecue was cooked up by Grainne Rigney and helpers from Dungourney, thank you Grainne and helpers.

Our grateful thanks to Gerard and Breda Mulcahy for their help and the use of their facilities, to Andrew Lee for his course building and advice, to our sponsors, entry takers, score keepers, pole pickers and all our committee members who helped and those who competed over the three weeks. Thank you all.
